June Favourites 2016

Firstly, where has this month gone? I mean I’m grateful because this means exams have finished. Anyways, its my Prom tomorrow and I’m very excited about it (also slightly nervous) and I’ve already planned two posts from the pictures I can take tomorrow. So, this month, with the whirlwind of finishing school, not knowing what to do with myself and the excitement of what’s to come, I realised I haven’t really had many favourites this month. But enjoy…

june 2016 2This is an obvious favourite to those who read my previous post. With time on my hands, I have turned to reading. I don’t feel quite so lazy if I’ve picked up a book and immersed myself into a character that’s either helped the Civil Rights Movement or solved and investigation. So far, I have read 5 books and I only officially left school 9 days ago…

Lukas Graham

I am absolutely obsessed with their album. I heard one of their songs, ‘Mama Said’ on the radio and immediately adored it. Especially after their other hit ‘7 Years’ I knew I had to see if they had any other songs. So you can imagine how happy I was to realise they had an Album! I can’t pick a favourite song because they’re all so catchy and meaningful.

june 2016 3

I am aware this is just a sample size/tester but until I use it all then I’m not going to go buy the bigger size (..cause I’m that cheap.) But in all seriousness, I don’t actually use a ton of this because it is quite dark for my skin tone. However, I have gained a bit of colour so my normal foundation is a bit pale for me. Therefore, I have been using this L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream to mix in with my foundation. I was honestly so happy with myself when this worked in my favour and I felt like Einstein (or some other smart person) for thinking this up. I know its not a new trick to the makeup world, but let me off, I’m slow, ok…

Itv Hub App (& Love Island)

This is two favourites in one because I use the Itv Hub App to watch my new favourite show; Love Island. I am in love with the itv app because its so handy for me to watch any shows I’ve missed. I also really like that there’s a lot less adverts which is always amazing. Furthermore, if you don’t watch Love Island you’re missing out. Personally, it would never be my type of show but I thought why not since I have all this spare time. If you do watch it, I think my favourite would be Sophie because she is just so straightforward and my favourite couple would have to be Nathan and Cara. Although, if you don’t watch Love Island you won’t have a clue what all that meant so that’s awkward… moving on.

june 2016I’m doing my own makeup for Prom and since its tomorrow I’ve been practising. I really wanted to try out false eyelashes because if you didn’t already know my natural eyelashes annoy me so much because they’re so straight. I have enjoyed trying out different ones, even after prom I think I’ll carry on wearing them because for once they give me decent eyelashes.

Hope you enjoyed this post, feel free to comment a link to your favourites post or just comment what your favourites have been this month. See you soon,

Love, Sophie

Sophie’s Summer Book Club #1

With the long period of time I have off for Summer, I really want to have a couple of series going on, one of them being a Book Club. Every so often, I will write up a post giving my opinion of a collection of books I have recently read. Here’s the first group…(I promise no spoilers.)

summer 2The first book I picked up this Summer was ‘Me Before You‘ by Jojo Moyes. If you have no idea what this book is about (which is probably very unlikely) its been made into a movie. So instead of me trying to explain and just not doing this beautiful book justice, feel free to watch the trailer. This has definitely got to be one of my all time favourite books, the storyline is completely different to anything I’ve read. I am scared to watch it in Cinema just in case it doesn’t live up. However, I would rate this book 9/10, it is amazing but in my defence it takes a lot to make a book 10/10 for me.

summer 3The next book I read was ‘Go set a Watchman‘ by Harper Lee. I will be completely honest when I say this is a very intellectual read compared to the writing of other books I pick up. But nonetheless, I loved it, I found it so inspiring and could completely relate to the characters thought process, although with different issues at mind. Because if you don’t know this book is set in America in the 1950’s during the Civil Rights. It’s about a woman who returns home and soon realises changes that’s been made because of the progressing world she lives in. I read this book in a day and I would rate it 8/10. Personally, I adored the book, I just would have hoped for a better ending, a solution should I say,  without spoiling anything.

summer 1Finally, I finished this book yesterday which is ‘The Dress Shop Of Dreams‘ by Menna Van Praag. I started reading this book completely blinded not knowing what to expect and it did surprise me in the sense that I ended up really enjoying it. To summarise, its about a young woman who has so far cut off all emotions until she starts investigating her parent’s death. Along the way, her heart begins to open and with her Grandmother’s help she solves the case not just with her parents but in love too. I would rate this book 7/10, I couldn’t put this book down although at the start I found it difficult to keep up with the numerous characters involved. It may have just been me, but it wouldn’t stop me recommending this to anyone.

Hope you enjoyed this post. I know that I’ll be reading a plethora of books during the Summer so I thought this would be the perfect set of posts. Comment down below, any suggestions of books you’d like me to read. Or any of the three books you might have read, what did you think of them? It’s one of my favourite things having a discussion with someone about a book I’ve read.

About Me

Bedroom Tour 2016

Firstly, I would just like to apologise for my first extra post of the Summer not being up at 6pm U.K time. However, I am very excited to do this because the last time I showed you all my bedroom was May 2015. Since then I have moved to a much larger room, I still have pretty much the same furniture just a different style to it. Personally, I love these posts because I can get inspiration on how others choose to decorate their rooms, not going to lie I doubt my bedroom will inspire many, but here you go…

image1 (2)Currently, my Dad is yet to get someone in to transfer my t.v to this room because its apparently plugged into the wall or whatever, so for now I have no t.v to place anywhere. But anyways, I have made do and instead I have; my jewellery box; all the current books I’ve read/enjoyed reading a while ago/still need to read. Go set a watchman was there and now has returned to this little collection, I read this book in a day (today in actual fact) and I urge you to read it, probably one of the most inspiring, intellectual books I have read in a long while. After my little book collection (honestly need a shelf or just my own little library to fit the rest of my books) I have my little love heart drawers. I received these as a present and at first I wasn’t too keen, however, it had my name on so I thought might as well find a place for it. But I honestly, think they’re so cute now and really fit well into my room. Also, if you’re wondering what is inside, its all my favourite nail varnishes, because again I’m just a girl that has too big of collections but no cute storage. Then, I like to keep current magazines close by so when I have the chance I can read, with obviously my camera on top, again handy place. Finally, I have my lamp which I don’t tend to have on often, especially now during the Summer months and the socket it should go into is where my phone charger usually is. But I’ll keep it because I think the colour of it really compliments the drawers.

image4 (2)

Most people would have their decorative cushions in front of their pillows, which is what I did at first. Although,  I think I just got a bit tired of having to fight my way through on a night to get to my comfy pillows and it taking ages to remake my bed on a morning. So I’ve enjoyed having these cushions at the back and I have to say I don’t think it looks bad. I was going to put them at the front for the sake of this post but I wanted an accurate representation of my room. Also, I love that its one of those beddings that’s reversible, not that I’ve yet had my bedding be just the lettering. Finally, I love the teddy bear blanket that stays at the bottom of my bed its so soft. Obviously, maybe not that practical for Summer months but I know even my Puppy loves it so much he’ll sneak into my room on a night just to lay on it.

image5 (1)

I love my bed side table, I love the flowers, I just love the simplicity. It’s just the way I like it, when I get into bed I can put my phone down and always a bottle of water.

image6 (1)

So this is one area of my room I tidied because let’s be honest no makeup station of mine would be organised. But anyways here’s where I keep my Dior, Chanel and Mac on display because I can’t seem to be able to put them away (that and the fact I probably don’t have enough space in the drawers, again storage problems.) I might do a Makeup Collection so I won’t go into too much detail.image7 (1)

Hope you enjoyed this blog post, I was not expecting it to be over 700 words, the plan was a short post for the first extra one of this summer. Ah well. Comment if you have done a bedroom related post, if not is there anything I didn’t include apart from the obvious wardrobe, but it is just plain and simple. See you soon.

Love, Sophie

About Me

Body Care Routine 2016

AT LAST! Finally from me there will be 2 posts a week (Wednesday & Saturdays) for the next 10 weeks. So happy my exams are practically over (I’m forgetting my last one is tomorrow.) Anyways, I wanted to start off these next few weeks with a long post, now I have the time on my hands.

I wanted to share with you my body care routine and basically my holy grail products that I never seem to mention. WARNING: Soap & Glory is featured a lot.

Mornings

image4 (1)When I wake up I’ll be the first to admit I have zero energy. So when I remember, I love moisturising with the Soap & Glory Righteous Butter. It soaks in so well and makes my skin feel so soft. I also really like that you can put it on after you’ve had a shower or bath, you don’t have to be completely dry, which is better because I have more chance of putting it on. The Deluxe version of this is also amazing, but I tend to reach for it when I’m going out somewhere nice. For example, I’ll moisturise using this for prom. It came with a ‘powder puff’ which was great but its now probably lost in the depths of my room. Plus I think its one of those things that’s really difficult to clean its not like a makeup brush. Anyways, I still think it gives a nice shimmery glow without going over with the powder puff.

Shower Time

image1 (1)For a while now these have been my Shower Must haves. Personally, I think the Soap & Glory The Scrub Of Your Life and The Clean On Me are the best scents from the brand. I love the consistency of the shower gel and the scrub is AMAZING. You can feel it working and it does what it says; it really does eliminate the bumps on your arms. I do think I’ve perfected my Shower Time products with these.

Evenings

image2 (1)If you were bored with the influx of Soap & Glory products then here’s a little break. I don’t use both after a bath, it depends. For example, if I’ve been in the sun then I like to use the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula as I like to think it keeps whatever colour I’ve got from the day, last longer. Also, it is an oil, so it’s unexpected for me to like it, however, it soaks in well and doesn’t leave you greasy. Whereas, the Superdrug Body Butter Cherry & Macadamia I use when I feel my skin is feeling a bit dry. The scent of this just screams Summer, you know if body butter could scream.

Extras

image3 (1)So these are the products I don’t necessarily use everyday but thought I still had to include because they do play a big role in my body care routine. Firstly, the Soap & Glory instant Sun Kissed Tint Body Lotion has the best scent considering the product it is. I use it only on occasion but when I do it reminds how much, a little goes a long way.

Next, I can’t miss out both the Heel Genius or Hand Food. They’re great and by applying them it makes me believe I’ve put way more effort than I actually have because of the great results. Being honest I would like to say I use these once a week but its probably once a month.

Lastly, I’ve included the L’occitane hand cream. I love this as well and I like to use it if I’ve decided to have a mini break from Soap & Glory (but we all know that never lasts long).

Hope you enjoyed this post. I’m so excited to finally be able to blog and blog and blog. Like, follow and comment what are some of your body care essentials. Keep the look out for my next posts.

Love, Sophie

About Me

My Sun Essentials 2016

Currently, I have 4 exams left. 4! I don’t think there are many words to describe my excitement. My next post, I will have one exam left (it will not faze me as its Business Studies). That’s crazy. Anyways, off topic, I decided to share with you my favourite products that I use when the sun decides to make an appearance.

sun essential 5Starting off with the most obvious one, Sun cream. Clearly, we all need it to protect our skin when we’re outside. However, I am that person that believes I won’t get burnt in the ‘Early Summer Sun’ and then I do…Moral of the story, wear sun cream.

sun essential 2Another one for when you’re out in the sun; protecting your lips. Maybe its just me, but it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference what I apply to my lips to protect them. As long as I remember to keep topping it up throughout the day.

Products Included:

Vaseline

Dior Addict Lip gloss

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick– Shade ‘Hot Pepper’

Bourjois Souffle de Velvet Liquid Lipstick

sun essential 3So when you’ve gained that beautiful, glowing tan. Or like me, you have achieved a shade darker than a usual pale, ghost complexion. Then you want to hold on to it, to do this I moisturise. Even if, scientifically moisturising doesn’t actually keep your tan for longer, at least it leaves your skin silky smooth. Plus, Cocoa butter just smells of Summer.

Products included:

Soap & Glory Righteous Butter

Palmers Cocoa Butter

Superdrug Body Butter

sun essentialThis may seem completely irrelevant. Although, we all know the Suns presence can be a hay fever sufferers nightmare. Now, I’ve never suffered with hay fever but I think this year I haven’t managed to escape. I can’t describe how annoying it is to be sitting exams when you consistently need to sneeze and your eye won’t stop watering. Yesterday, I finally got some products to treat it. There is a noticeable difference, my eye has definitely not watered as much and I haven’t sneezed once.

I can’t take tablets but these One-A-Day Allergy Relief tablets are so small so they’re perfect for someone like me. I have to admit the Optrex Multi action Eye Wash, is not a pleasant thing to do. I hate anything to do with eyes so this was very uncomfortable for me. The pharmacist did suggest this, I did not willingly want to put myself through this discomfort.

sun essential 4Finally, if all else fails; fake tan. If you’re unlike me you maybe able to achieve a healthy glow and not end up like a streaky mess like I tend to. I’ve only ever been brave enough to apply the Soap & Glory Sun kissed Tint Body Lotion on my legs but the St. Tropez Gradual Tan is amazing if you don’t want to go too dark and want more control over your finished look.

Hope you enjoyed this post. Comment if you share any favourites, or have done something similar to prepare for the Summer months.

Love, Sophie

About Me

Helmsley & Sweet Treats

This week, I have had off from School and I now go back in for exams (8 TO GO!) and the lessons that I have exams for. Mostly, I’ve just been revising but on Saturday I went to a small town, 45 minutes away from me, called Helmsley. It was super cute and I got a few really good photos. However, I was looking at tags from Helmsley on Instagram (because sometimes I’m just that sad) and I had no idea the place had a castle! So annoying because how good would the photos have been. Anyways, here are the pictures I did take…

helmsleyThe shops were all so small and old fashioned.

helmsley 5I was fully aware of people watching me as i was in the middle of a car park trying to take a picture of a Tudor house. However, its not even that good of a picture I deserve A* for determination to get a picture.

helmsley 3Just the whole town was quirky but so cool.

helmsley 4The blue skies really helps this place to be very picturesque. It was finally warm! Although, I was not happy coming back home to the mist and grey clouds.

image8I was trying out different saturation levels on this picture and I really liked it being black and white. I think this just portrays how dated the area is.

helmsley 2For some reason I’m loving the high contrast on this. I can’t explain it but I love this picture.

Also, I didn’t want to do one whole blog post on what I baked on Friday. But at the same time, I was proud of what I’d done, so I thought I’ll just add it on.

I was so happy with the way they turned out. Yes, some fell over because of the Strawberry and Cream in the middle, but it’s okay I just offered them ones to my Dad.

Hope you enjoyed this post, its currently 15 days until my last exam and I am VERY excited. I cannot wait to focus on my blog. Feel free to like, comment or follow!
