July Favourites 2016

When I came to write up this post, I thought I’d be struggling to think of any favourites at all. But once I started, I realised how much I actually have been loving this month. Turns out when you have time to do what you want, you end up with a pretty extensive favourites posts…

1. Maybelline Brows

july favourites 4This month has been the time to learn how to do my brows properly. I wanted to start off simple so I picked up the Maybelline Master Brow Pro Palette and the Brow Drama. These have been amazing if you’re a beginner like me in the Brow department. I’ve started to get a routine going with how I do my eyebrows and I really love the look of them because I manage to achieve a natural-but-you-know-I’ve-done-something-look.

2. Real Techniques

july favourites 6Before this month, I had been pretty hectic with school so any makeup I decided to throw on I’d just quickly use my hands to rub it in (the most was concealer). Don’t worry, I wasn’t spreading bacteria from my hands to my face. I washed my hands thoroughly before and after. Anyways, now I have my long, Summer off its been the best thing to take my time doing my makeup makeup and during this I have found my love for my makeup brushes again. I always turn back to the Real Techniques Core Collection, which is the one I’ve been loving this month.

3. The Weather

If you’re from the U.K you’ll know we had a recent heatwave. And OH MY GOD it was the best thing. 30 degree heat whilst sat in my back garden it just doesn’t happen. I am wishing for more of that weather in the last month I have off. So whoever controls the weather front can you sort that out please? Thanks.

4. Ben & Jerry’s Ice-cream

With these lovely temperatures, I obviously needed something to stay cool, right? Well I turned to Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream and what can I say, it was a very good decision on my part. My favourites are definitely the Cookie Dough and Chocolate Fudge Browning.

5. Sally Hansen

july favourites 2

Recently, I have been loving painting my nails. So the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails has been perfect as a base coat (I’m not even sure if that’s what I should be using as one). It really does help to strengthen my nails and when I take off my nail varnish there’s no damage. Sometimes, I’ll just wear this on its own because I do just like the look on its own.

6. Ted Baker Highlighter (kind of)

july favourites 3

At Christmas I got the Brilliance of Beauty Set by Ted Baker. I don’t think its currently for sale but inside was this blusher. As much as I love the blush shades the middle one I like to use as a highlighter. It looks amazing and I use it everyday in my makeup routine now.

7. The Blogging Community.

This month I’ve had so much energy to put it into blogging. Which in turn I’ve managed to talk to so many other bloggers. For me, even just commenting on other bloggers posts makes me happy because I just love communicating with other people. It helps that everyone is always so kind and supportive.

8. L’Oréal Clay to Spray Dry Shampoo

july favourites 5I have a love hate relationship with dry shampoo. Some brands just don’t seem to work well with my hair. Until I found the L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo. I had purchased the rest of the range and on a whim picked this up as well. It took me a while to use because I thought it would be like the rest. HOW WRONG I WAS. This is a life saver (or should I say hair saver?) that I’ve been waiting for. I couldn’t be happier with the results after spraying this. Thank you L’Oréal.

9. Favourite Song- ‘Perfect Strangers’ Jonas Blue

What can I say? It’s a catchy song and I’ve been loving it this month.

10. Notebooks

july favourites 2016

With blogging more often during the Summer, I was starting to get overwhelmed with all the blog post ideas I had and nowhere to really note them down. So I was very happy when I found these in ‘The Works’ for £2 and £3 in the sale down from £8 and £12, which are crazy prices. I think these are super cute and I’ve already started using them for blogging.

Hope you enjoyed this favourites post. If you’ve already put up your favourites post then please do comment the link down below so I can read it. If not comment down below some of your own favourites from this month. See you soon.

About Me

My Dream Closet

Today, I’ve been spending a few hours putting together some of my staple pieces to make different outfits and designing my very own closet…IT WAS A LOT OF FUN!

So firstly, I would like to share with you a couple of clothing items that I’d find a necessity in my dream closet.

I love my black high waisted jeans and my grey sleeveless jacket, therefore, they would definitely have a place in my wardrobe.

Also a staple would be an oversized white shirt and a black leather jacket.

Next, the part I really enjoyed; designing my own closet. Here’s what I came up with…

make space 5 make space 6

make space 7Interestingly, according to the Mail Online: ‘in every woman’s closet 22 items she never wears.’ This made me think about how much of our clothing doesn’t go to use because of either its out of season or that its simply too sentimental to let go of. (Please tell me I’m not the only one who does the latter?!) And with space and minimalist views being a problem who knows where to store their clothing? That’s where MakeSpace comes to the rescue. They’re a company that provides that extra space. Simple right? All you need to do is download the app, request a representative to pick up your clothing and keep it safe until you’d like it back . Feel free, to click here to see if they’re near you yet, don’t worry if they aren’t, they’re expanding all the time!

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. I’d love for you to comment a staple item you’d have in your dream closet and your design views, would you go for a rustic theme like mine? See you soon.

Sunderland Air Show 2016

You won’t believe the time I’ve spent trying to sort this post. Nothing seems to be working for me today. I tried making a video but it wouldn’t import on my IPad, tried on my phone and it kept freezing and went to carry on sorting through the photos on my laptop and they weren’t there! okay, rant over…

Anyways, yesterday I had the pleasure to visit the Sunderland Air Show which is the largest free Air Show in Europe. So since the last time I went was 10 years ago and most of my Dad’s side of the family live there it made sense to make an effort and go again.

Also, sorry for the bad quality photos, a lot of zooming was needed…

If you were interested this was my outfit of the day

I had to include these two pictures from walking to and from the show. (IF YOU’RE READING DAD, THANKS FOR DECEIVING ME ABOUT HOW LONG IT TOOK TO GET THERE!)

 image3image4image5image6BLOGBLOG 2BLOG 3blog 6blog 7blog 8blog 11blog 9blog 10I had to end the day with an ice-cream, it tasted AMAZING.

Also, the part I have spent the most time on is this video. Obviously, it was better and more worthwhile to take videos of the planes than pictures. So if you have the time I’d really appreciate it, if you checked it out here.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. It’s definitely a different post to what I usually upload, but I had such a great day the atmosphere and the effort from the pilots was great. I have been enjoying using my twitter so much recently so feel free to follow me on there @Sophi15Samantha (I’ll follow back). And I have so many amazing posts lined up that I’m so excited to share with you, so like, comment and follow. See you soon.

About Me

How to Style #2: Denim Shorts

Firstly, can I just say thank you so much 300 followers on my blog! That’s crazy and its a point I never thought I’d reach and I have no words left to show my appreciation.

Okay, so this post was going to be an outfit of the day because I was at my Great Auntie’s 80th Birthday Party, but if you follow my twitter (@Sophi15Samantha) you’ll know I forgot to take any pictures and the only one I got was this:

Anyways, back to the point of this post, I eventually decided to do another ‘How to style’ because I thought it was about time, considering I wanted it to be an ongoing series. Although, I didn’t feel happy with the way I looked in pictures, everything seemed to go wrong and I was feeling very self conscious today but I wanted to still go through with it. So, here we go…Oh yeah, excuse my no makeup face also.

1. Crop Top

Trust me when I say that this is a crop top, but as I was saying I was feeling very self conscious so I was trying to hide anything and everything. Back to the point, I think a crop top and denim shorts is such a good look and if you’re like me and want to hide areas that’s fine too.

2. Oversized Shirt

Personally, I loved this look as it looked really laid back. I think it would be good if you wore maybe a plain top underneath and then you could unbutton it.

3. Over the top of a bikini top

So if you’re on holiday, (*cries* because I’m currently not) then a staple outfit of mine is bikini, shorts and a lace top like this one. And you can get away with it because your bikini is underneath.

Also, I was so close to missing this third point all together out because I look SO bloated in that second picture. But as always I like to keep it real on this blog, BEING A GIRL SUCKS SOMETIMES BUT THATS OKAY.

Hope you enjoyed this post, again thank you so much for 300 followers. I do apologise if you realised how aware of my appearance I was in this post but everyone has them types of days, I was just happy (kind of) to share it with you. As always, like, follow and be kind in the comments.

Beach, Bubbles & Mud

These past few days I’ve managed to capture some (in my opinion) cool pictures. So I thought I’d share them with you in this pretty, laid back, Wednesday post.

This was just a creepy bus picture I managed to take on the way back from the beach.

I was collecting stones to throw into the sea when my friend decided to scare me so much so I dropped the stones and went flying off. But all is fine because in the fright I got this idea to take a picture.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate, my feet got very wet trying to take these pictures.

I only took a couple bubble pictures that aren’t very creative. However, I enjoyed trying to edit them in a different way than I usually do with the pictures I take so I thought I’d include them.

So my friend wouldn’t come any closer but I do really like this photo (PLUS its more evidence of the length I went for these pictures.)

It’s fair to say my golden retriever pup got very muddy.

I’d like to say I took a picture of this ALIVE crab but alas it was not. Quite thankful really that I didn’t see its pinchers or whatever its called come and attack me.

I managed to get this super cute picture of Alfie because he always likes to wait if someone who he’s been walking with has trailed behind- puppy goals or what.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post, I liked adding captions to the pictures I’ve included I think it makes it that little bit more interesting. Also, I seemed like a crazy person on the beach, collecting shells just so I’d have a nice background for my photos on upcoming posts, dedication right there.

About Me

Liebster Award

I was so happy to find out the lovely blogger from Gurlthinking had nominated me for the Liebster Award. If you don’t already follow her, then you really need to.

Basically, the rules are: you mention the blogger that nominated you; include 10 facts about yourself; answer the questions that were made by the person that nominated you; make up some questions of your own and don’t forget to nominate some people yourself!

10 facts- or not

I have done a Liebster award before and as I’m still very grateful for being nominated again, I don’t think there’s much more for me to tell you about myself. So I’m just going to move on and start answering some questions…

What was the idea behind your blogs name?

This one is pretty simple. My blog name is my actual name. With Sophie being my first name and Samantha being my middle name.

This was my first blog logo type thing… *cringe*

What 5 people would you invite to a dinner party, Dead or Alive?

First, I would definitely have to have Taylor Swift because I’ve been a massive fan for so long now. Next, I’d have to invite Zac Efron, you know, to have someone nice to look at. Then I would invite Martin Luther King because he is such an inspirational person to me. Also, I would have to invite Prince Harry because he seems so down to earth and I feel like I would have a better conversation with him than the other Royals that maybe a bit more reserved. Finally, I would invite John Green because as I love every single one of his books I feel like we could have a lot to talk about.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

This is pretty boring but I’d have to say my black high waisted jeans are probably my favourite. Mainly because they’re so versatile, whenever I can I’ll try to wear them.

Who inspires you and why?

I knew the answer to this one straight away and it has to be my Mum. My Mum is so kind to everyone she meets, always tries to help others and if ‘Best Mum Award’ was a thing then mine would win hands down.

What is something embarrassing that you have done or has happened to you?

I literally embarrass myself everyday so this one was really difficult. However, one that tops all is that when I was on holiday in Cyprus, a couple years ago, I got dehydrated and passed out. At the time, I was in the outside restaurant near the pool and I regained consciousness with a group of people surrounding me. To top it off the first words I had were ‘I’m going to be sick’. Finally, to make things worse the life guard, whom played a big part in helping me, brought over a sunbed for me to lie on in the middle of the restaurant. So while people were enjoying their lunch I was taking a little lay down shall we say…

Sorry for the bad quality photo, but just to the right of this picture was where the restaurant was.

Past Holidays 2 Cyprus #1

What would your biography be called?

I loved this question but I had no clue what it would be called. But even though this isn’t great it would be something like ‘It’s only just begun’. Mainly because if this biography was coming out tomorrow for example (even though at this point it would be 10 pages long). I feel as though I’m just where I can start making decisions about careers and how I want my life to start panning out.

What are three things you want to achieve by the time you’re 30?

First, ultimate happiness, to be content in general. Next, would be to say I’ve completed most or all of my Travel List. Finally, to have a stable job that I love, whether that’s my own business or whatever path I decide to go down.

Three words that best describe your personality/life?

I didn’t want to seem boastful or vain about this so I decided to ask my Mum. So her answers were: Funny; fashionable and kind. (+thoughtful but then that’s 4, never mind, I’ll take the extra compliment.)

What is your biggest pet peeve/hate?

I would say there’s nothing that stands out as being the ‘biggest’. So I thought I’d just mention a few things that tend to annoy me: clutter; if you’re late; rudeness; arrogance and when waiters come over to ask how your food is and they’ve literally just placed it down or you have a mouth full of food so you just have to murmur something that might as well be a different language.

If you could re-create any movie scene what would it be?

It would probably be from the Notebook. Either when they’re at the fair right at the beginning, or when they’re out on the lake and it starts to rain or when they argue at the end. Basically the whole movie.

My Questions are:

  1. Which country would you most like to visit and why?
  2. What is your favourite song at the moment?
  3. Is there a language you would like to learn? If you already know another language what is it?
  4. What was the last movie you watched? And did you enjoy it?
  5. Who is your favourite author? Or book?
  6. Who are your top 3 inspirational people?
  7. Where is your happy place?
  8. What do you like to do in your spare time?
  9. What would be your ideal, dream job? If you already have that, what is it?
  10. What do you see as being your main goal in life?

Thank you so much to Gurlthinking for nominating me. Here are the people I’m nominating (its not many, however, I’ve already nominated quite a few people in previous posts.)

Blog Oceane

The Savage Savannah

Kay Anne

Simply, Me

I love reading these bloggers posts, so I can’t wait to read their answers.

Hope you enjoyed this post, it definitely gave you a bit more information about me. Feel free to like, comment and follow. See you soon.

About Me

Prom Makeup 2016

WOOOO! It’s one of my long posts again. I am very excited to tell you what makeup I wore on my Prom day so here you go…

prom 10I started this makeup look off with eye shadow first because I realised then I can clear up any eye shadow that gets under my eye or if I have to start again there’s no panic. To begin with, I used my trusty No7 palette, not going to lie I was very tempted to purchase an Urban Decay Naked Palette but in the end I didn’t know which one to go for so I decided to just stick to what I know. Anyways I’ve added numbers so it’s easier for me to explain what shades I used in which order. So, starting off with no. 1, I used this shade as a base and across my lid. Then onto no. 2, I used this quite widely in my crease and outer corner to middle portion of my eyes. Next, I used no. 3, to go a bit darker in the outer corner of my eyes and to just define them a little more. Then, I used no. 4, this was for the inner portion of my eye, I used the Ted Baker eye shadow from the Brilliance of Beauty set. I was really impressed with it as it was much more pigmented than I expected. Lastly, I used the Bourjois Colour band Eye shadow and Liner right in the very, very inner corner of my eye to brighten it up and it certainly had that effect.

prom 9

Furthermore, I moved onto finishing off my eye makeup. So the first thing I did was use the Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen and I literally kissed this product to wish me luck. I am not the best person to do eyeliner and especially with my eye shadow going to plan I would not have been happy if this eye liner let me down. However, it didn’t and I have to say it was the BEST time I have ever done my eye liner before.

Next, I used the Eylure Lengthening lashes. I actually ended up cutting these lashes because what I wanted to do was split them up so they were easier to apply. But I only managed to cut 1 portion off from each before I thought that that would do. Anyways, come Prom day I was applying the bigger portion and I just loved the look it gave and didn’t see the need of applying the last one.

Lastly, I used the Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer as it really lengthens my lashes to a length that I just love. Then I used the Dior show Mascara, which I have literally been saving until Prom and it was certainly worth the wait.

prom 11I have finally started doing something with my brows..YAY! I’m feeling very proud of myself at this moment in time. Also, I’m very glad that my eyebrows didn’t look bad considering I bought these products 48 hours before Prom and barely practised with them. So I used the Maybelline Master Brow Pro Palette, I used this very lightly and then brushed through. Finally, using the Maybelline Brow Drama to hold my brows in place. I don’t have anything to compare these products to, however, I was very happy with the outcome.

prom 5Moving onto setting my face ready for foundation, etc. I used the Benefit Porefessional, this was so good at immediately minimising the look of pores and I used this around my nose area. Lastly, I used the L’Oreal Infallible Primer, I do really enjoy using this Primer so I couldn’t leave it out when it came to my Prom makeup.

prom 6So if you read my June Favourites then you’ll know I have been mixing the L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream with my usual foundation Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum. I love the coverage this gives whilst still giving a light feeling on the skin. To apply this I used the buffing brush by Real Techniques from the Sam & Nic Collection. Furthermore, I used the Revlon Colour Stay Concealer which I have grown to love, it is a tad light for my skin tone Although, I love it because I apply it under my eyes which really brightens them up. Lastly, I used the Benefit Agent Zero Shine, this was absolutely amazing to set my makeup.

prom 7This combination is incredible. I started off with the L’Oreal Infallible Sculpt it is so easy to blend with. I used the highlight underneath the contour to make it ‘sharp’ which gives such a great effect. Then I go in with the Soap & Glory Wonderbronze, it gives a warm glow to my face and I used it over contour and at the top of my forehead.

prom 8Feel free to tell me I went overboard on highlighter but I loved it. So I started with the Benefit Shy Beam and it gives a more natural highlight, which I still love. But oh no, I wanted a bit of sparkle so I turned to the Ted Baker Highlight which is the middle shade. It just made the tops of my cheek bones POP. If you don’t believe me take a look..

prom 3(If you were interested this was before mascara, fake lashes or lipstick)

I also wasn’t feeling blush that day but if I were I would have used the first shade of Ted Baker because I think all three shades were blush but never mind.

prom 12

It was so difficult for me to decide what lip product I would use for Prom. I wanted to use one of my more high end lipsticks but I knew they were mainly red shades and just wouldn’t go with my dress. Finally, I wore the Mac Velvet Teddy Lipstick which I love the shade of. Then over the top, I lightly used the Dior Addict Lipgloss to keep my lips hydrated.

I do just want to apologise because in the excitement of Prom I didn’t get a proper picture of my makeup. However, I will show you the pictures I did get…

prom 2prom 4prom 1

Hope you enjoyed this post, I did warn at the beginning it would be a long one. Feel free to comment anything you would have done differently but also a link if you’ve recently done a makeup look.

Love, Sophie

OOTD #7 Prom!

I cannot believe how fast Prom has been and gone. I had such an incredible night. But what I also can’t believe is that the last time I did an outfit of the day was back in February. I did want to do a bit more than just show you my dress for Prom, so I’m going to explain the preparations I did for the night itself and how my day panned out.

8:30 am- I woke up, I was feeling pretty chilled throughout the day and I surprised myself by waking up with no nerves. I do apologise for this no makeup face but I tried to take pictures at certain points during the day for this post.

ootd prom 8

11:45am- I went to get my hair done. I honestly go to the best hairdresser. I’ve known her for 10 years now and I couldn’t have been happier with my hair. I did only want something simple and this is what it looked like…

ootd prom 9

1:30pm – I realised I really needed to sort out what clutch bag I was taking and add the usual tissues,  money, the ticket to get in and whatever lipstick I was wearing.

This little yellow packet is what was on our table by our seats, it was filled with sweets inside.

ootd prom 4

2:30 pm – I began moisturising with the Soap & Glory Deluxe Righteous Butter Cream. I love the scent of this and it gave a pretty glow to my skin.

ootd prom 2

3pm- I started to put my makeup on. I did start quite early but I didn’t want to rush to make sure it was as perfect as I could get it. I am doing a whole other post for my makeup on Prom day so that will be up on Wednesday.

ootd prom 3

5pm- My Mum helped me with the last few bits, adding jewellery and actually putting on the dress.

ootd prom 10

5:30pm- Time for PROM! I got some pictures taken and then I went round a friends house before heading to the venue.

ootd prom 5

It was so hard not being able to give Alfie a kiss, he just had to watch from the window…

ootd prom 6

ootd prom 7

My makeup lasted really well. This picture was after, after prom party. I would do another outfit post for that but I just wore jeans and a crop top.

OOTD Prom(Got to love them Snapchat filters that hide 1 am under eye bags…)

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. I have waited so long to do this so I’m so excited the time finally came around. I am so nervous for tomorrow when I have college taster day and again on Tuesday. Anyways, don’t forget to like, comment and follow.
