February Favourites 2017

Why does February have to be over already?! If you ask me 2016 went far too quickly and it looks like 2017 is doing exactly the same. Anyways, instead of me complaining here’s what I’ve been loving this month.

img_1980Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette

Honestly, I have never been more in love with a highlighter. Its probably my favourite product in my makeup drawer at the minute. I love the creamy consistency and the fact that it’s just like pure glitter on your cheekbones. My friends have been complimenting me on it, which is when you know you’ve got yourself a good product. Anyways, I’d 100% recommend and look out for a makeup post that will show you the results of using this.

img_1978Jack Wills English Velvet Body Spray

My best friend from Psychology class got me this for my Birthday (along with other presents that I’m very grateful for). Its such a fresh scent and I’ve been loving using this everyday.

Ciao Adios- Anne Marie

This has been my favourite song this month. If you haven’t listened to it already, you should check it out because its a really catchy song. And I know that in March Favourites post it will include a long list of songs mainly because of the Brit Awards and all the songs that came out of that, that I’ve now been listening to on repeat.

img_1894Light Pink Oversized Trench Coat

I only bought this coat a couple of weeks ago, but I can’t seem to not wear it when I leave the house (unless I’m walking my dog, that’d be a bit risky to do). Other than that, it seems to make any outfit 10x better. Today, I was wearing basic top and jeans, I put on that coat and it made it seem as if I’d put more effort into my appearance than I actually had.

Side note: I did actually do a blog post including this coat so if you haven’t already checked that out, you could do so here.

I have always watched Catfish, its just SO addictive. But I don’t know whether its because It’s been on tv more or whether its because I’ve got my Mum addicted to it also that I just can’t stop having it playing. Anyways, if you are yet to watch this please do and if you know of the programme please comment down below so we can talk about it together!

img_1979Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser

My skin has been acting up recently and because I haven’t wanted to aggravate it I’ve turned to this Simple product. Personally, for years I’ve always had a simple somewhere in my skincare but this month I’ve loved having this to turn to.

img_1976Earrings are the one piece of jewellery I will wear everyday. Even though that’s the case, I never seem to change which earrings I wear, I just get stuck in a rut. So recently, I’ve been wearing these consistently (I have two piercings in each ear ). These are the Heart Stud Earrings and the top pearly ones, I just don’t have a clue where they came from. Anyone else have something that you can’t remember when you bought it or where but you obviously did, otherwise how do you own it? Just me then…

img_1977With Spring around the corner, I decided to brighten up the lip products I was using. These are the Dior Addict Ultra Lip Gloss and the Clinique Pop Lip Lipstick in the shade Beige Pop. I love these two products together and it leaves my lips moisturised throughout the day.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. I love writing and reading monthly favourites. Let me know in the comments some of your favourites, I am a bit early with my post. But if you’re the same feel free to comment a link to your favourites post and I’d be happy to read them.

Love, Sophie

The Start of Sophie Samantha

Its times like this one, where I wish I knew why I started my blog. I cannot think of my thought process, but I do remember wanting to have a blog for a few months before I actually took the plunge. Obviously, I’m very grateful because 2 years later, my blog is my favourite hobby.

I’m not the best person to give advice, but I’ll give it a go..

  1. DON’T put too much pressure on yourself. Even now, I sometimes find myself stressing out because I can’t think of what post I want to create or the post will be going up later than I’d like. If you love the content you create then that should be the focus.
  2. DO reach out to other bloggers. What has made me love blogging even more is being able to interact with other people. For example, pretty much everyday without fail I read what everyone has been posting and make a point to write a comment. It makes the whole experience of blogging even more enjoyable.

My 7 Facts

  1. I like to make lists. Just on the Reminders app that comes automatically on the iPhone. It usually annoys me because I always seem to have a lot to do. But nevertheless I like lists as it reminds me of everything I need to do.
  2. Moving on from that point, I’m a very forgetful person. Hence why I need to make lists.
  3. Oh yeah, I zone out a lot. Mainly at College, which probably isn’t the best thing.
  4. I have a recurring nightmare that I can’t escape somewhere, I’ll go to the exit that is there in real life and it wont be there in the dream. Or I dream I suddenly have no shoes on but I’ll be in town, weird I know.
  5. I need space. I can never seem to be able to talk to someone constantly. I don’t mean face to face but over the phone through Snapchat, texting. I just can’t do it. I have no idea what’s wrong with me.
  6. Sometimes I’ll randomly start cleaning and 6 hours later I’ll still be cleaning. Its this obsession I seem to have that once I start I can’t stop. I’ll go from just clearing up my vanity to cleaning light switches… its that bad.
  7. I love going on long walks and just exploring. Everyone I know probably thinks I’m weird for it, but its definitely something I’m excited to do more of as the weather starts to improve.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post and it wasn’t too long including two awards in one. I ended up writing really deep facts about myself basically telling you all how weird I am. Its not my first time of being nominated for these awards- which I’m grateful about. However, I obviously struggle to think of facts about myself. Anyways, see you soon.

About Me

OOTD#9 Lunch Date

Yesterday, I went out for lunch and it gave me the idea to do an outfit post. I also added another outfit just for good measure.

img_1894I am OBSSESSED WITH THIS COAT. I bought it when I was in Newcastle and I know it will become a staple item in my Spring Wardrobe.

Light Pink Oversized Trench Coat

Burgundy Bardot Top

MOTO Black Orson Slim Jeans – these are the most similar to the ones I was actually wearing I could find.

Boots- River Island

img_1895This was a face of someone who’d eaten a lot and was very happy about it.

img_1902I’m trying out this new thing where if I buy any clothes I should avoid dark colours. Not just because Spring is round the corner but because my wardrobe pretty much consists of black. I also love this pale blue and think the sleeves are so pretty.

Light Blue Ruffle Sleeve Tie Back Top

Pink Lace Filigree Choker Pack– again the most similar I could find to what I’m wearing.

I also really love the back of this top. It’s definitely like nothing I have in my wardrobe already.

I just thought I’d include the reality of putting together one of these posts. My Dad suggested I stand on that stone but I was wearing new boots that I didn’t want to get dirty. So here was me struggling to get there, you’re welcome

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. Also, to recognise having my blog for 2 years I decided to change up my blog. I’ve changed the theme and tried to make it a bit more updated. Anyways, are you slowly transitioning your wardrobes for Spring or do you just go with the flow? See you soon.

Newcastle Trip + 2 Year Blogiversary

Today, I got back from my surprise trip to Newcastle. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and managed to get plenty of shopping done (haul on Sunday). So I thought I’d share some pictures. I didn’t manage to get as many as I did last time I visited, but feel free to check out that post I put up here.

We found the quirkiest place to eat. Even though its not my style I was loving the décor.

In the same quirky place was this cute lettering, which should basically become my life quote or something.

Our room was beautiful! I could have sat in that chair all day. (I’m sure there is another name for that chair thingy but I can’t remember it so never mind). img_1778The waiter gave me a rose just as I was about to leave, which was such a nice gesture and very much appreciated.

img_1777Obviously, I had to finish the evening with a picture near the bridge.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. As always I loved my time spent in Newcastle. But today is my 2 year blogiversary! I can’t believe I’ve managed to keep it going for so long, however, I’m so happy I have because I’m in love with it now. Its also 1 year since I picked Alfie up- you know my golden retriever that I can never seem to write a post without at least mentioning him. Anyways, See you soon.

About Me

What I got for My 17th Birthday

It was my Birthday on Friday and even though I had to go to College, I had such a lovely day, and I was truly spoilt by the people in my life. This isn’t me trying to boast about what I received because I’m so grateful for everything and I always love reading these posts from other bloggers.

blog-5Firstly, from my best friends, they got me the Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum. It smells INCREDIBLE. I was so appreciative and I love the size and packaging of this.

blogNext up was from my favourite blogging friend Béline. I was not expecting anything as I’m just super grateful to have made a friend through blogging in the first place. But it put the biggest smile on my face to receive this eyeshadow brush and really cute notebooks. Thank you so much Béline!

blog-3 One thing I’m obsessed with already is this bag from Dorothy Perkins. It is actually so much smaller than you think, which is just what I need for when I go shopping. My Parents got me this and I think it was just so I stopped giving them my purse to carry. But either way, its much appreciated.

Along with the bag, my Parents also bought driving lessons as I can now start to learn to drive, which is very exciting.

My parents decided to go one step further and surprise me with a trip to Newcastle, one of my favourite cities, so expect a couple posts from that.

blog-1Finally from my Parents I got some jewellery (many I couldn’t photograph because I was already wearing it, oops.) My Mum also bought me this French Dictionary because her exact words were “Don’t think I’m letting you give up learning French.” Which is fair enough and probably the reminder I needed.

My Mum’s friend also got me another bag, along with this AVON Lipgloss and compact mirror. Which are all really cute.

blog-4My best friend from Psychology class got me this Jack Wills English Velvet Set, this smells AMAZING and will for sure become my everyday scent. She also got me these cute lipsticks made of chocolate. Which has given me an idea to make cupcakes but that’s kind of beside the point. I was so grateful for this bunch of presents and I was very lucky.

Finally, my cousin bought me the Tanya Bakes book and it has all the BEST recipes. I’ve wanted it for a while but was worried I might not use it as much as I should. But now I have it, I can’t wait to try as many as possible.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post, I was so grateful for everything I received. I also got money off my Parents and the majority of family so I was thankful for that too. I also have a week off now so I can have a bit of a break from College. WOOHOO. Anyways, See you Soon.

Love, Sophie

Sophie’s Book Club #3

So I started this little series during the Summer. And I do mean ‘little’ I’m pretty sure it consisted of all two posts. Within them posts I managed to read 6 books. I wanted to started it up again after having received plenty of books to read at Christmas.

Just before Christmas, I read this beautifully written book ‘Will you Remember Me?‘ By Amanda Prowse.

It’s about a Mother of two, who gets diagnosed with Breast cancer. The book is about the journey, and hardships she faces, especially since all she’s ever done before this was look after other people.

I’m pretty sure through the last quarter of the book I just cried. No book has ever made me cry as much as that one did. Don’t get me wrong this book also made me laugh out loud. But DAMN this book tore at my emotions. There were some points where I just sat like “HOW COULD THAT HAPPEN”. Anyways I’m losing track of the point. I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone that can have tissues to hand.

Also FANGIRL moment…

No joke. I always freak out to my Mum if my tweets or posts get noticed. Sorry Mum, but thanks for always pretending to get as excited as me.

The next book I finished reading last week was ‘Holding up the Universe‘ by Jennifer Niven. I had previously read ‘All the Bright Places’ and LOVED it. So I was keen to get through this one. By no means did it disappoint.

It’s about two characters; Libby who’s going back to school after having tremoundous issues with her weight. And Jack Masselin, a cool kid in school. But he hides a secret; he can’t recognise faces.

I found myself so intrigued with the characters that, that made me read on. It made me realise that as I sit here now in my College Resource Centre I really have no idea the backgrounds of the people that surround me. It was a beautifully written book, one that I’ll remember for a very long while.

Sophie’s Summer Book Club #2

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. I’m so grateful to have read some incredible books recently. I love writing review posts but I always feel like I can never do the book justice in what I have to say. Also, I never managed to thank you all for 600 followers. That’s crazy and a very lovely early birthday present (it’s FRIDAY IM VERY EXCITED). Anyways, see you soon.

About Me

We Need To Stop.

We need to stop taking our beaches for granted. Scrap that. We need to stop taking our environment for granted.

This is far from my usual upload, so if you’re not prepared for a rant, then feel free to click off now.  Today, I decided to take Alfie for a walk on one of the many beaches  I  fortunately live close to. As we arrived at 1 of more than 200 beaches that we have over here in the U.K, I stood aghast at the amount of waste dumped onto the sandy grounds.

Old Christmas trees, Plastics (A LOT) , Rope and in general litter. You name it, you’d probably find it there. Plastic bottles found on our coastlines rose by 57.2% in England. Plastic litter has increased 140% since 1994. Overall, charity’s reports reveal a 34% rise in beach litter between 2014 an 2015.

And because of the state the beach was in, I decided it was clearly unsafe to walk my excitable pup who’d more than likely step on something he shouldn’t or eat something he shouldn’t.

But it got me thinking; when did our natural surroundings start to become so ruined? When did the ocean start washing in rubbish that we had dumped in the sea to start with? When did there become people who were too lazy to empty rubbish into a bin and treat the beach as one?  When did we stop caring?

What surprised me more than anything, was just taking a short drive down the coast-literally less than 5 minutes– we reached a long clean stretch of sand.

The intention of this post wasn’t to focus on the negatives of our beaches. But to recognise the good in them and to realise we need to hold DAMN tight onto these sandy shores. By looking after them the right way. Because its clear we have hope left, we do have picturesque beaches, we just need to make sure the rest of them reach the same standard.

Dear Reader,

I’d like to carry on taking my dog for long enjoyable walks on the beach for many years to come. And I’m sure if you have a dog you can reciprocate. If you don’t, a good walk along a beach didn’t harm anyone either. So let’s please do this together. Because if we don’t, no one else will. We can’t neglect our beaches any longer. This is just one problem to the many that we face everyday. And if we carry on the way we’re going we’ll face a lot more. This is something I’d love to know more about, so I’m basing one of my Design projects on it at A level. Hopefully, I’ll learn a way to help.

Love, Sophie

About Me

Mini Superdrug Haul

So I not only called this a ‘Mini’ Haul because I didn’t buy a lot but because the vast majority of the stuff I bought par 1 was mini! Superdrug was having a 3 for £3 in their mini section.

As I’m going to Barcelona in a few months (thought I might as well get prepared, right?!) I decided to take advantage of this offer. So here’s what I picked up.

First of all, deodorant, everyone needs it, so I got two of the Dove originals just to stock up.

So even though I use tresemme shampoo and conditioner. I picked up the Head & Shoulders Shampoo and Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner. I’ll only be away a few days so I just got what was there.
Similarly with the toothpaste, I bought the first one I picked up which was the Colgate Max Fresh.

As I’m writing this post I’m actually contemplating whether I need Sun cream for Barcelona but I googled and apparently it’ll be 26 degrees Celsius during the day. So maybe it’s just best to have it and protect my skin. This is the Malibu 30 SPF lotion
Weirdly, I picked up the same product as I did for Poland, which is the Fruity Strawberry & Raspberry shower gel. It is quite a strong scent but it’s what you need if you’re out being a tourist all day.

Finally, some trusty simple products. I always have Simple Cleansing facial wipes to hand so these are definitely a necessity to go away with.

Again, I have a full sized version of the Simple Toner. Therefore, I needed to pick up the mini size.

Also, I got the Simple hydrating light moisturiser as I don’t fancy taking the moisturisers I usually use.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. I prefer taking minis away with me as I can just leave them there and it’s one less thing to pack and bring back. See you soon.

Love, Sophie
