How My Golden Retriever has Drastically Improved my Well-being.

With the help of Puppyspot, I’ve been able to recognise the immense impact being a pet owner has had on my life. So in todays post I decided to share with you exactly how my 16 month old Golden Retriever Alfie has improved my day-to-day life.

1. No more Loneliness.

Just before getting Alfie, my life pretty much consisted of school work. My parents have jobs so they were always out the house and I realised how lonely I actually was. Nowadays, I always have someone with me i.e; Alfie.

2. Happier Mood.

Walking through the door instantly lifts my mood. Mainly because of who I’m greeted by. Alfie is always so excited to see me and that’s a contagious feeling.

3. Reduces Stress.

According to the Huffington post, when you pet your dog you’re relaxing not only your dog but yourself too. If you want to read the science behind it check out their article.

At this point Alfie was clearly tired of me taking his picture.

1. Fresh Air.

Taking Alfie out immediately makes me feel better. It’s definitely the fresh air that has that effect. Also, you’re getting Vitamin D from the Sun. Vitamin D helps to fight obesity, heart attacks and many more.

2. Build Immunity.

Several studies have revealed that just having a dog in the house can boost immunity.

3. Out Moving.

Obviously Alfie needs long walks and that gets not only him moving but me as well. If I didn’t have Alfie in my life I probably wouldn’t end up doing the recommended amount of exercise in a week.

If you also have a golden retriever, you might find this just as interesting as I did. Or feel free to check out golden retrievers for sale here.

A few more examples of how your dog can affect your life.

Hope you enjoyed this blog, all opinions were my own and this wasn’t a paid advertorial. See you soon.

Everyday Outfits to go with Warby Parker NEW Collection

Recently, I’ve been made aware of Warby Parker’s Summer Eyewear launch. And let me tell you, I’m suffering with SERIOUS glasses envy. However, since I’m saving up for a car, insurance, and probably more importantly driving lessons it doesn’t look like I’ll be purchasing right at this very moment. But if you do, let me know!!! Having said that, it didn’t stop me from planning outfits that I thought would match with the glasses- a girl can dream right?

These jumped out at me straight away and I’m 100% certain its because of the colour. They’re so unique and I know I wouldn’t be able to get my hands on them anywhere else.

So the outfit I matched them with is this one…

I’m positive that the Light blue ruffle sleeve tie back top  would compliment the glasses very well.

I LOVE that these are two toned. I mean seriously have you seen anything cooler?!

I chose this outfit because I knew that the way the top is split in the middle by the two block colours it would go great with the glasses and how they’re split across.

I’ve also decided that this outfit is going to be my new FAVOURITE. I realise its basically all black but I was very happy with this combination.

Side note: As soon as I put on the fedora I was raking around for all other hats in my house. And these have started to make a reappearance again right?

I love these glasses for exactly the same reason I loved the first pair; they’re so different!

Since my Mum was kindly my photographer throughout this she advised me to stop wearing so much black. So i branched out with this outfit, and in all honesty I’m quite happy with the way it looks. Cause what do you do when you can’t wear black? You wear grey.

Anyways, obviously the green top matches the glasses well and I love the accessory of this Zoella Backpack.

I love the style of these and I could imagine these being an everyday essential.

I decided to try a formal look to match the glasses and I was quite happy with the outcome. The book was my Mums idea…

I don’t know whether I’d be brave enough to wear these but nevertheless I think they look so cool.

I paired it with an all black outfit (surprise surprise) and I think it would really go.

Similar to the other pair, just lighter, but I love them just as much! Maybe they would give me the sophisticated edge I’m missing?!?

I think this outfit would go well with the glasses as its just a really casual outfit.

I may have just been saving my favourite/most daring for last. How pretty are these??! I’m trying to wear more pink – she says after writing a post based off black clothing. But I just think these are super cute!

This is obviously the most dressy outfit but I knew I needed to wear it, to compete with the standards of the glasses.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post, I loved having time to be able to put so much effort into a fashion post. Also, if this post hasn’t already made you want to go check out Warby Parker, then I suggest you should, their new collection launched TODAY. How cool is that?! See you soon.

About Me

Easter Baking

This time last year I went all out for Easter, baking up some super cute treats. So if you want to check that out, feel free to here.

This year though, I wanted to put more effort into simpler recipes to make sure they turn out a 10/10. However, it’s me, so they turned out a 7/10.

Heres what I got up to…

Bunny Shortbread

You will need:

  • 250g Plain Flour
  • 75g Caster Sugar
  • 175g Butter
  • 150g Milk Chocolate
  • Bunny Cutter

  1. Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4/180C/350F.
  2. Mix together the flour and sugar.
  3. Next add the butter, using your fingers, until its a breadcrumb consistency.
  4. Chop up or just break the chocolate into chocolate chip size.
  5. Add the chocolate chips to your mixture.
  6. With your hands, try to form a dough with the mixture, it should eventually hold its shaped once squeezed together.
  7.  Create a floured surface to then roll out your dough.
  8. Start to use your bunny cutter (you could just cut into whatever shape you’d like)
  9. Place the shortbread onto a baking tray that needs to be lined with greaseproof paper.
  10. Bake for about 20 minutes or just until its golden.

One thing I struggled with is that they’re so crumbly. Yes once you squeeze them together they form a dough but once I tried rolling that out I was back to crumbs again.

Mini Egg Raspberry Cupcake

You will need:

  • 50g Unsalted Butter
  • 180g Caster Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • Couple drops of Vanilla Essence
  • 160g Plain Flour
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 160ml Full fat Milk
  • Raspberry Jam
  • Mini Eggs
  • Buttercream

Look at the filling in that…

  1. Preheat oven to Gas Mark 4/180C/350F.
  2. Mix together the butter and sugar until you have a creamy consistency.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Slowly add the flour and baking powder.
  5. Again, slowly add the milk until you have a smooth mixture.
  6. Put the mixture into cupcake cases (that should be put into a muffin/cupcake tray).
  7. Bake for 20 Minutes.
  8. Once cooled, cut out a hole in the middle and add the raspberry jam.
  9. Heres where you can cheat like I did or make your own icing. I just went out and bought buttercream and used an icing bag and nozzle to decorate the top.
  10. To finish, add Mini eggs or something else of your choice.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. Even if they don’t look quite as appetising. What have you been up to over Easter? See you soon.

About Me

Rapid Fire Book Tag

Finally, a longer post is appearing on this blog. I’m so excited to actually have the time to write this post, she says writing this post far too late in the evening. Anyways, what was even more exciting was getting tagged to do the Rapid Fire Book Tag by the lovely Hannah Grace (blog: I love reading Hannah’s post, I’d like to think I haven’t missed one of her uploads yet. If you’re not already following Hannah Grace, you must definitely should.

On to the post, if you know me by now, you’ll know I need to include pictures in EVERY post, I just have to, okay, its just not complete otherwise. So as I’m answering the questions, I’ll be including pictures of some of my favourite books I own.

1. EBooks or Physical Books?

Physical. I have tried EBooks but its just not the same. I think I just prefer having actual paper pages to turn.

2. Paperbacks or Hardbacks?

I like both but probably paperbacks since the majority of my books are paperback.

3. Online or in store book shopping?

In store. I don’t think I’ve ever actually ordered online for books.

4. Trilogies or Series?

Neither, I pretty much just read stand alone books.

5. Heroes or Villains?

Heroes obviously because they’re the good guys. But you have to admit Villains make the plot more interesting.

6. A book you want everyone to read?

Flawed- Cecelia Ahern. I don’t think I will ever get over that book. I’m currently in the process of getting others to read it too.

7. Recommend an Underrated book.

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella- I’ve mentioned this book in numerous posts now.

8. The last book I finished.

Finding Audrey– Sophie Kinsella. (I reviewed it in my most recent post of Sophie’s Book Club)

9. Weirdest thing you have used as a book mark?

Don’t hate me, but I usually just turn the corner of the page. I think when I was younger I used a school picture when they print it off really small. Clearly that’s just vanity at its finest for you.

10. Used Books, yes or no?

YES of course, why ever not? I only occasionally have a book in mind that I want to read, that I go out and purchase. Other than that, both my Mum and I don’t mind scouring a charity shop to pick up books. Yesterday, we bought 4 books for a £1, so you can’t really go wrong with 25p a book.

11. Top 3 Favourite Genres

Romance. Mystery. Drama.

12. Borrow or Buy?

For sure buy. I usually end up loving most books I read and as soon as I fall in love with a book I don’t tend to want to let go of it. I think it would be cool if I had someone other than my Mum to swap books with but I’d probably end up buying myself a copy of whatever I borrowed.

13. Characters or the Plot.

I would say the characters because I do like to be able to connect to them in some way and really visualise myself from their perspective. However, if there’s no storyline going I can become disinterested very quickly. So I’d say both.

14. Long or Short Books.

Somewhere in the middle? Otherwise, if its the type of book I can’t put down then I feel like I could carry on reading it for a lifetime. At the same time if a book is too short then I get a bit disappointed because I haven’t had time to grow with the characters.

15. Name the first three books you think of.

Me before you- jojo moyes

Paper Towns – John Green

The perks of being a wallflower- Stephen Chbosky.

16. Books that make you cry or laugh?

Cry. I know its been a good book if its managed to make me bawl.

17. Our world or fictional worlds?

With everything going on in our world at the minute, I’d probably say fictional worlds. In the books I read there seems to be less tragedy there.

18. Audio Books yes or no?

No. Just no.

19. Do you ever judge a book by its cover?

Hard to tell, I guess I do in some ways otherwise I’d be reading the back of every book I see.

20. Book to Movie or Book to Tv adaptation?

Book to Movie. I don’t think I’ve read a book that’s been turned into a tv series.

Series or Standalone.

I haven’t read too many series. Usually I’m quite content with a standalone book and prefer that the author has included everything in one book.

One ‘series’ (if you can call it that) is the one by Cecelia Ahern. She’s recently brought out a sequel to ‘Flawed‘ called ‘Perfect‘ I’m so excited to read it since I adored the first. Just got to get my hands on it now…

Anyone who wants to complete this tag, feel free to!

Hope you enjoyed this blog post, its definitely a longer one. I’m currently at work whilst this is up but I’ll reply to any comments and basically just become active as soon as I can. See you soon.

About Me

OOTD #10 Work + First Impressions of Waitressing.

Unfortunately, I missed my usual upload on Wednesday, I didn’t really know what to post and I didn’t really have the time to write one either. Anyways, I started my first ever job yesterday and thought I’d show you what I had to wear.

IMG_2397So lets just excuse the absolute state I’m in here. But in all fairness I was about to go back for the second half of the shift. I ended up working from 9:00am-12:30pm (finishing a couple hours early than I was supposed to) and then from 5:00-10:30pm. In this picture, I wasn’t wearing my apron because I forgot to take it out my bag.

So here are the links to what I’m wearing. Just in case any of you need something similar for a job:

Fitted Shirt- Matalan

Tapered Trousers- Peacocks

These stores aren’t the kind I usually shop in but I just needed a cheaper alternative when it was just for work.

IMG_2398Why not add a random picture of flowers when you literally have no pictures to go with your blog post?

Anyways, onto my first impressions of waitressing, even though I couldn’t feel my feet when I got home, I did enjoy it. Yeah, its hard work and its certainly not something I’m going to spend the rest of my life doing but for now I’m excited about it all.

Thankfully, everyone seems lovely and I’ve already made a couple of friends. The majority of customers were lovely but of course a few were unpleasant as you would get anywhere.

FullSizeRenderThroughout the week, I had been a bit stressed about how it would all go. It wasn’t really nerves but I had a bit of a mare with the splinter I mentioned at the end of last weeks post. I ended up going to the doctors TWICE just to remove a splinter. It sounds daft but it was such a pain. It stressed me out so much as I knew I couldn’t turn up on my first day at work with a huge bandage on my finger.

That’s kind of beside the point, but anyways I’m excited to see how it all pans out.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. I’m going to start planning out my posts so it’ll go back to being regular uploads. Sorry if you don’t enjoy these types of posts. See you soon.

About Me

A New Chapter.

Life is about to get hectic. And I’m okay with that. But I thought Today’s post should be brief reasons why, just in case any of you were at all interested.

1. Driving Lessons.

From May 1st, I’m hoping to have driving lessons on the mornings of Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. You’re probably like Sophie that’s ages away. And yes it is, but that’s the week College gets back to normal after Easter and trial exams. Also, before I’m starting lessons with a qualified instructor my Mum is taking me to different quiet areas where I can learn the basics.

(This is obviously a before picture)

2. Upcycling.

I’ve started a new hobby. Its time consuming but fun to do nevertheless. Its as well something I’m very excited to start blogging about. Basically, at the minute, in my free time I’m upcycling some of our old furniture. Today, I’ve been busy sanding down some Dining Chairs. These are obviously a work in progress but I can’t wait to start doing DIY posts.

3. College.

When am I ever free of College work? I take such time consuming subjects, that I could always be doing something for one of the courses. Recently, my grades have improved and I can see its because of the extra effort I’ve been putting in and obviously if I know what needs doing to get the grades I want, I can’t stop now.

4. Blogging.

For the past 2 and a 1/2 years now Blogging has been part of my life. I obviously love it and enjoy it enough to want to keep going with it. As well as that, its something I’m proud of myself for. Anyways, maybe it was a couple of months ago now but I started posting twice a week (Sundays & Wednesdays) which I’m still doing now. Surprisingly, it takes up a lot more time than I thought it would. I absolutely commend anyone who posts more than that, I don’t know how you do it (or even think of all the post ideas). I definitely need to become more organised.

5. A Job.

Yesterday, I got offered a job. I hadn’t handed in a C.V or filled out an application form. I didn’t even get interviewed. My Mum and I went out for Breakfast (it was my Mums birthday) and the owner of the café/restaurant just offered me a job there and then. Obviously, I’ve been super fortunate and had to accept as so many other people my age are struggling to find a job at the moment. I do just want to say I do know the owner (my Mum knows him more) but not enough to be offered a job straight off. Anyways, I’m very appreciative and I start on Saturday.

If you’ve read this far, well done!! This is quite random. But if you know how to get tiny splinters out of your hand it would be very helpful. For the life of me, I just can’t get a splinter out after I’d been sanding down the chairs.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. Kind of felt it may have been a tad boring because what’s interesting about my life? Oh well, see you soon.
