OOTD #12: Bridesmaid

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to be a bridesmaid for my cousin. I was so excited for the day and so badly wanted to blog in some way. Obviously, I wanted to respect my family’s privacy and decided to do an ootd instead.

I loved the colour of this dress and it’s not everyday you can look this fancy. It was a little big on top but apart from that I loved it.This was after the ceremony and the pictures so I wasn’t looking as ‘fresh’?? Also, you can see my feet peeping out because of the wind not because of the length of the dress.

This was my hair, I loved the pinned bit but my hair is so straight that the curls dropped pretty much straight away.

Have you been to a Wedding recently?

Mid July Favourites 2017

Considering we’re only half way through the month, I’ve got quite a few favourites to share…

Bourjois Bronzing Powder

I was pleasantly surprised with this product, it’s so easy to blend. And I know I’m not looking like an orange when I leave the house, well I hope not.

Lydia Elise Millen

Lydia has been my favourite YouTuber for a couple of months now. I just find her videos addictive, she just comes across so genuine in every one. If you’re not already subscribed, I would do so now because she’s so beautiful inside and out. I also adore her bag collection.

Newcastle

I didn’t realise how many galleries you can visit free of charge. But when I was on a college trip, we visited the Baltic, the Laing Museum and the Side Gallery, all situated around Newcastle. I loved spending time in one of my favourite cities and having my eyes opened to all the beautiful art that’s around.

Thunder- Imagine Dragons

I have been LOVING this song, it’s so catchy and I’ve definitely had it on repeat.

Bourjois Lip Liner & Ted Baker Lipstick

I’ve never really thought to use a lip liner, although recently I’ve loved the results. I pair it with this Ted Baker lipstick and it just radiates Summer vibes.

Benefit- Eye Potent (Tester)

I randomly got a tester size of this Benefit Eye cream when my dad got back from one of his conferences, along with a few other treats. However, this one has been my favourite, it’s so Hydrating under the eyes that I know I’m going to have to purchase the full size when I’m through with this.

What have you been loving so far this month?

About Me

Sophie’s Book Club #5

I can’t believe that the last time I did a book club post was March!? That just solidifies that I need to read a heck of a lot more books during the Summer.

Anyways, onto the couple of books I have managed to read recently…

IMG_3201I actually ended up reading Split Second by Sophie McKenzie a few months ago and really enjoyed it. The book made me a nervous wreck from start to finish. Its about a teenage girl, Charlie, who’s life gets torn apart by a terrorist attack, She meets a boy, Nat, whose family has been devastated by the attack. But once you start reading, you learn that Nat knows more about what happened than he’s letting on. I honestly think that’s all I can say about the book without giving away any spoilers. But if you like that type of fast paced, on the edge of your seat kind of story then this is one to read.

There is a sequel to this, so it does end on a bit of a cliff hanger, I haven’t read the second book yet but its definitely on my list.

IMG_3202When I saw this book in Tesco, I was so excited. It’s because I had read the first book ‘Flawed’ a while back and I couldn’t wait for the second one ‘Perfect’ to be released in April. (Okay, so I forgot about its release but I’ve got it now.) I actually did a quick review in my last book club post about ‘Flawed’, that if you want to, can read here.

Anyways, without giving anything away, the sequel carries on with Celestine’s journey being ‘Flawed’ and the unbelievable struggles she faces. This book well and truly scared me, I’m pretty sure it was a mixture of heart stopping moments and the fact that its so surreal and bizarre it scared me to think of it being our reality. I’ve loved every Cecelia Ahern book I’ve read so I knew this one was never going to disappoint.

What was the last book you read?

About Me

Northumbria University Open Day

On Saturday the 1st of July, I went to my first University Open day. Northumbria has been the place to appeal to me the most so I was so excited about visiting and they definitely did not disappoint.

IMG_3161We arrived at 9:30, it took us about an hour in the car to get there and it was surprisingly easy to find. I know there are two campuses and that there was shuttle buses to take you to the other one but I just stayed at the City Campus.

You also got a couple of bags that had booklets of information, a newspaper and of course a free pen.

IMG_3159This was the main hall where all the stands were, they included information about each course, accommodation, finances, studying abroad and work placement. There was also refreshments, which was handy for my Dad who seemed to have about 3 cups of coffee. Also the picture above only shows half of the hall, if that gives you a sense of how big it was.

I headed straight for the Design stand which was right in the corner.  I ended up speaking to one of the students on the stand for about 40 minutes, she was so lovely and gave me a ton of information. Everything from the course itself, preparations for the interview and even the best shops to get samples.

IMG_3160There was a fashion lecture at 12. So after talking to the people at the stand we ended up having an hour to spare to wander round. We walked round to the Design building and got speaking to another student and professor about the fashion course. Whilst my questions had been answered by the previous student at the stand, the second student seemed to have plenty more to tell me and I could actually look through other students portfolios. I found this really helpful and interesting because I got to see the amount of work that’s produced and the quality of it too.

IMG_3162Anyways, we had the Fashion lecture in the Business building which was really useful because it thoroughly explained the different courses within Fashion and just helped me to solidify which course I am actually interested in.

We then headed back to the Design building and had a tour of the studios. The facilities are amazing and are absolutely massive. Also, I just want to apologise for this picture being a bit blurry, I was on a tour with just one other family and it was really difficult to take pictures without anyone noticing.

I was in awe at the work that has been produced by students there. It has me aspiring to one day be at that same level.

IMG_3164I had such an amazing day- not just because it was my first Saturday off work in about 3 months. But because Northumbria had been the University I liked the look of the most and to actually be able to look around the Campus, meet students and just in general have more information, it has just reassured me that its still my first choice.

Have you been to any University Open Days? Are you at University currently?

See you Soon.
