August Favourites 2017

August is usually one of my favourite months, so I’m kind of disappointed its nearly over. But I’ll just get straight into showing you what I’ve been loving…

Zoella

I’m sure you’ve all heard of Zoella, and if you haven’t, then I’m slightly confused. Anyways, I’ve been loving all the long vlogs she’s been uploading to her MoreZoella channel. I just find them really cosy to watch (hopefully that makes sense).

IMG_3755I’m not sure of my thought process when I decided to photograph an Ibiza fridge magnet and a bracelet (that I did get from Ibiza) together???? However, my favourite is obviously the bracelet and I’ve been loving wearing it. I’m the type of person who doesn’t wear much jewellery (apart from earrings.) So when I found myself reaching to put this on whenever I leave the house, I was impressed.

IMG_3753Let’s get the weird favourite out of the way now shall we? Fruit. That’s what I’ve been loving this month. Its become my ‘snack of the day’ and I guess its slightly healthier than chocolate.

Music.

It would have been hard to reduce this to just one song so I’ve just titled the favourite ‘Music’ instead. For example, after coming home from Ibiza I’ve been loving listening to Spanish music, a favourite being Felices los 4 by Maluma. Although, I’ve also been loving James Blunt, MKTO, James TW and of course the Queen that is TAYLOR SWIFT. I realise ‘Look what you made me do’ was only released less than a week ago, but I’ve been listening to it ON REPREAT.

IMG_3754My go-to perfume for the past few weeks has been the Issey Miyake L’eau D’Issey Pure. It’s a good scent for during the day. Also realised I’m not good at describing smells so lets move on.

Another favourite of mine is this YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipstick and its in the shade 15 ‘Corail Intuitive’. Its been my lipstick of choice most days. This is my first YSL product (and I’m sure, not the last) and I love the packaging. I think this has been perfect for the Summer.

This month I was fortunate to spend time away both abroad and in the U.K. I’ve been super grateful to have these experiences (I blogged one of them here) and I couldn’t not mention it in a post.

What have been your favourites this month?

Love, Sophie

How I Style #3: A Corset Tunic Dress

It may have been over a year since I put together one of these ‘How I Style’ posts but that’s okay, were just gonna move past that. I’ve also made the small change from How to Style to How I Style, mainly because I think Fashion is totally personal and up for discussion. So this (clearly very short) series of posts are put up for inspiration, than anything else.

Anyways, before I get into it can I just ask why is it whenever I buy something full price it always go on sale when I come to write about it in a blog post? Its just my luck. So basically the Corset Tunic dress that’s featured in this post, is from Topshop. Currently on sale for £15 down from £28. You can get your hands on it here. If you would like to check out other clothes that were on sale at the time of me writing the post you can do here. Andddd miniscule rant over now.

IMG_3743

The first thing I’ve been loving to pair with the tunic dress is my all time favourite coat from River Island. I realise its a trench coat and maybe something that seems more appropriate for the cooler spring weather, which it is. But I feel like I can still wear it now, especially with the U.K’s weather. Plus the light pink shade definitely radiates summer vibes.

I was tempted to wear my COFFEE lace up trainers, only because the colour would have coordinated well with the coat. BUT, I soon realised, it just wouldn’t have looked right, and I didn’t want to clash the sophistication of the coat with the casual trainers. HOWEVER, I think if I’d paired this outfit with my Blush ‘Sonia’ Velvet Sandals, that have a small heel to them, then it would have upgraded the outfit from day wear to evening.

IMG_3742For some reason, putting together this outfit really made me feel good. I think because the more I realised what I was wearing, the more I realised how coordinated I was. For example (are you ready for this?) I was wearing this Thin Velvet Ring Choker Necklace (what a mouthful) and the ring matched the other rings that were the detailing on the dress. Both rings being silver, I opted for silver jewellery; an anklet, a bracelet and earrings. PLUS all that silver even matched the silver zip on the leather jacket, ok, that might be too far. And obviously I was wearing the choker, jacket, shoes, all black to match.

I also think this dress would look super cute with a denim jacket. I always read other peoples blog posts and I think someone had got theirs from River Island. But if anyone else has any suggestions. I’d LOVE to know. I even saw a camouflage jacket in H&M, I’m so annoyed I didn’t buy it and I think that’d look pretty cool too. This is probably when I’d wear my trainers if I had a more laid back jacket to wear.

About Me

Sophie’s Book Club #6

Ooops I may have said I was back to being fully committed to blogging but then didn’t post for over a week. But I’ve now got a list of blog posts I could do that would take me up to December, soooo I’m thinking I’m organised again.

Anyways, when I was on Holiday, I managed to read two books that I thought would be perfect to put into my book club series…

IMG_3649The first book I read was ‘Every Day’ by David Levithan. It’s about a character called ‘A’ who wakes up in a different body everyday. He doesn’t know who it will be but he already knows how to handle it; to not get too attached and to leave things as they were. Until he wakes up in a body who has a girlfriend; Rhiannon. Someone that A wants to spend more than one day with.

This book is definitely unique. It pulled on the heart strings because he couldn’t just lead a normal life but at the same time I felt immense empathy for the other characters in the book. Whilst I loved the ending of this, it’s definitely not one you’d expect, I was also left with so many questions…How does this soul/spirit/body changing happen? Why does it happen? Surely he must have a body of his own to return to? I guess that’s just the joy of reading and it can be left to your imagination. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone, and its definitely one that would spark a discussion, at least it did with my Mum and I.

IMG_3648The next book I read was ‘Ten Big Ones’ by Janet Evanovich. It’s about Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter, who’s next on a local gangs hit list. She’s out to find a ruthless killer, before he finds her first.

I don’t end up reading these types of books very often because they seem so hard to find. But I love how light hearted it was and after urging my Mum to read this too, she also agreed. It had us both in laughter, with both of our favourite characters being the Grandma. I found the Stephanie very relatable, because we all have times when everything seems to be going wrong. I would 100% recommend this book, it was such a great read.

Once again I don’t think I’ve done these books any justice. But let me know what you’ve been reading recently.

About Me

What I Wore In A Week: Ibiza

Finally, I can commit to blogging again. Before I left for Ibiza I was feeling pretty stressed out for various reasons. But a week away has definitely got me feeling rejuvenated and ready to get back into life.

Anyways, I thought I’d put together a post of what I wore whilst I was there…

Day 1

IMG_3561

Purchased at River Island

Obviously, during the day I lived in bikinis so for the majority of this post I’ll show you what I wore in the evenings. To start the week I went for this black jumpsuit, I love the way the belt cinches me in at the waist and the cut outs near the shoulders.

I couldn’t find this jumpsuit online, so with all outfits included I will try to find a similar garment.

Alternative to this Here.

Day 2

IMG_3565

Purchased at Miss Selfridge

Second evening I went for another black outfit- don’t worry I did pack other coloured clothes too. This was really comfortable and unfortunately I forgot to get a picture, but the back of this dress is partly backless and partly lace.

When I purchased this last year, I did blog about it which includes a picture of the back, if you want to check it out, you can here.

Or the original is here. Currently on sale for £12!! Was £39!

Day 3

IMG_3570

Purchased at New Look (Top) & Miss Selfridge (skirt)

For some reason I forgot to ask if my Dad could take my picture so hopefully a mirror picture will do. This was my most casual outfit of the week but I really liked choosing it. My thought process was that the lace in the top coordinated well with the black in the skirt.

Original Skirt Here. On sale for £10! Was £35!!

Alternative to Top Here.

Day 4

IMG_3567

Purchased at River Island

With this outfit, I love the white and gold combination and I thought that white would bring out any colour I may have got in the first few days.

Alternative Here. I struggled to find something similar with the gold but the alternative I chose seemed similar with the fit.

Day 5

IMG_3571

Purchased at Topshop

I think the only place I can get away with this playsuit is on Holiday. That’s probably due to the fact it’s so bright. But the pattern and colour is what I love about it.

I couldn’t find an alternative to this outfit. Mainly because its so hard to describe.

Also, during the week I mainly stuck to the same pair of sandals from Matalan. I think they were only £8, perfect for what I needed them for. It doesn’t look like I’ll be wearing them anytime soon with the U.K weather so I’m grateful for the price.

Day 6

IMG_3577

Purchased at Topshop (playsuit) & Dorothy Perkins (Shoes)

I would say this was my favourite outfit of the week, I just looveeee the colour of it. The material feels really nice quality and just the fit in general is perfect.

Alternative to Playsuit Here.

Original Heels Here. On sale, now £12! Was £27!!

Day 7

I ended up wearing the same jumpsuit from the first evening for my last night because we ended up going out so I just threw on something comfortable to walk around in. But instead of missing a day I thought I’d show you one of the bikinis I wore.

I love most things high waisted so this was a pretty immediate winner. I also fell in love with the design as its not like any bikini I’ve had before with the way it wraps around.

Purchased from MISSGUIDED.

Original Bikini Top & Bottoms.

Have you done any outfit posts recently?
