May Favourites 2018

Its been a while since I missed one of my weekly blog posts. But in the midst of exam season, it just couldn’t be helped. Anyways, I realised that it was about time for a monthly favourites. However, because of exams (again) there’s not as many things I’ve been loving this month. Ahh I love* when my life revolves around exams…(*hate)

1It was actually a February Favourites post back in 2016, when this product was first mentioned on my blog. I fell in love with it then and I’m in love with it now. My skin always feels thoroughly cleansed after using this Clarins gel. The only reason this ever fell out of my skincare routine was because I was in the mood for a mix up and wanted to try cheaper alternatives. But as you can see, it always makes its way back.

Youtube- Grace Fit UK

This month, I watched a lot of Graces’ videos. I don’t know how I found her channel but so glad I did, I love her uni vlogs and I really don’t know how she seems to balance everything. She’s also the greatest motivation for fitness, something I really need to get a routine with.

2In the past couple of months, I have been loving moisturising my face with Sukin. It is such a natural product and smells so good. At first, I was a bit apprehensive because it has a slightly oily consistency but once applied it absorbed well into the skin.

No Makeup

I can’t remember the last time I put makeup on (because of exams, once again) but it feels good to have let my skin have a break from foundation, concealer and all the rest of it. It also saves a lot of time in the mornings.

Music

Music favourites of the month are: ‘Back to you’ by Selena Gomez and ‘Quarter Past Midnight’ by Bastille.

How I’m revising for A Level Psychology

It has been a LONG week of exams, I still have 6 hours of Photography to go and then Psychology exams left in early June. So with my art exams basically close to finishing, I know my attention will be focused into psychology revision. I thought this weeks post would be a brief one, going through how I am revising.

1. My Study Life App

I think an important place to start is to actually allocate time to revise. Recently, I downloaded an app ‘My Study Life’ so I had set times to revise. I find it super helpful to know I have particular times in the day to get revision done and if I don’t get revision done in those slots, I’d just feel guilty. I would also not be doing anything else because I’ve scheduled in the time, so it makes me motivated to do work.

32.  Organisation

You’re really never going to feel productive if you don’t know how much you need to revise. I try to be as organised as possible, not to make life easier for myself (although that helps) but because I like lists, I like being able to see I’m getting through work. Otherwise I would never get anything done.

2Firstly, I have my list of everything I need to revise. Split into topics; core studies; mental health; child and criminal psychology. I like that its all there (apart from research methods yet) and it means I can tick it off as I go.

1

Here I have my two week plan. Its very satisfying to be able to rub off what you have written because if you’ve been productive you end up with a clear board. Anyways, I can use it to decide what I want to get done each day depending on how much I have on. For example, Tuesdays I have a psychology lesson and a revision class so I’ve tried giving myself easier less time consuming topics. WIMB– stands for ‘What is meant by’ and then I have a ton of definitions to remember. So trying to do a little bit each day so its easier to remember it all.

3. Focus Keeper

Another app I use is Focus Keeper, I find it helpful to use during revision. You work in 25 minute slots and take a 5 minute break in between. After 4, 25 minute slots you can take a longer break. You decide how many sessions you want to aim for in a day. I feel that this definitely helps a lot, sometimes I just don’t stop revising and end up burning out. Whereas using this tells me when I should take a break and I end up being able to revise for longer.

44. Practice Questions

Finally answering questions. Its great learning all the information but if you can’t apply your knowledge, the revision is going to be for nothing. They’re not the most fun things to do, but the more you practice and improve the more motivation you’ll have to do them.

Good luck if you have any exams! We just need to remember they won’t consume our lives forever.

Lots of Love,

Sophie

April Favourites 2018

I am LIVING for this nice weather in the U.K, its literally been a day of having the sun out and I’m already in the BEST mood.

Anyways, onto what I’ve been loving during April…

IMG_0479I have mentioned my bed in too many favourites post. However, we can excuse this as I’m actually talking about my bedding instead. Once Spring rolled round, I realised it was time to change to some lighter bedding. Instead of putting on one I already had, I went out and bought this one instead. I think its simple but with really cute detailing.

IMG_0489  During my trip to Dublin, I craved fruit, I don’t know whether it was because I was so tired I just wanted something I knew would give me some energy or just to help me feel less groggy. Either way, this was what I bought and ended up LOVING. Whenever I can, I’ve been making sure to add an Innocent Smoothie to the basket and when I’ve finished this blog post, I’m going to reward myself with a smoothie. This is an ok habit right?

IMG_0499Not my usual type of favourite, although one definitely worth mentioning. My car was starting to lose the ‘new car’ smell and I wanted a car freshener. But I didn’t want one that dangled down from the car mirror so I was very happy to find this that just clips onto your air vent. I have this one ‘blossom & breeze’ and one currently on my car is ‘cotton fresh‘. Honestly, my car smells amazing, I love how small it is, yet its so effective. If you’re in the market for a car freshener, I just can’t recommend this enough.

Side note: I was looking at how much they are online and I got mine for half the price at B&M.

I didn’t think Design and Photography (2/3 courses I do at A level) would ever properly end up in a favourites post, however, here we are. So my exams for these subjects are all next week, then I’ve completely finished both of them. Which is weird when they have taken up so much of my time for the past couple of years. Overall, I have enjoyed both, the freedom to be creative and create my own projects. As well as having a really chilled teacher, it will feel weird when it sinks in I don’t have it anymore. Obviously just have to get through the 15 hour exams (30 hours in total, PLEASE LET TIME PASS QUICKLY).

I have fallen back in love with my Dior ADDICT Perfume. I’m not even going to try and describe the scent, I just know that it smells good and it lasts all day. That is what counts.

Music- Recently, I have been obsessed with Anne-Marie. I love her new album ‘Speak Your Mind’. I just love her music, at the minute especially ‘2002’ and ‘Perfect’.
