OOTD #19 Interview (no.4)

I have come to the realisation I can’t take outfit pictures away from my garden. My back garden seems to be my comfort zone and whenever I’ve been in different cities for University Interviews, I just can’t seem to bring myself to get my Dad to get some pictures. Mainly, because I’m nervous for the interview but also because cities are busy ok? Living in a small, quiet town, I’m just not used to it all.

Anyways, I had my interview at Liverpool John Moores University on Wednesday and whilst it was a very tiring day (a nice 4 am wake up call) I still wanted to do an ootd to carry on this interview series I have going on.

4We can just excuse my appearance in these pictures, it had been a long day.

Starting off with the leather jacket, I have probably had this for a couple of years now and I really believe that because of the quality, it doesn’t show any signs of age or normal wear and tear.

Originally bought from Miss Selfridge. Due to the time, I didn’t think I’d be able to find the EXACT jacket but I’m pretty sure its this Black Bella PU Biker Jacket.

One day, I’d love to be able to afford this Acne Leather Jacket because it would be such a staple in your wardrobe.

Briefly mentioning the trousers. As I said in my last post, they are really versatile, last week I dressed down to have a casual day and for the interview I styled them a bit more formal. If you want to know where I bought them and a similar pair, you can read last weeks post here.

As for the boots, I ADORE these. I originally purchased them from River Island but they’re no longer available on the website and I really struggled to find a similar pair. They’re surprisingly comfortable to walk in and if you’d like a closer look you can here.

6

I bought the top from Pull & Bear and if Pull & Bear was anywhere near me it would be my next obsession. Unfortunately, the store I bought this top from was in Dublin. However, overall I think the brand itself seems to be really well priced and I will be very excited to eventually get my hands on more from here. This top is unbelievably comfortable and surprisingly good quality.

Apart from the colour, this isn’t similar, I just thought it was so edgy I had to share. Striped cropped Jacket.

The good news is I got an offer from Liverpool John Moores University to study Fashion: Design and Communication!

Lots of Love,

Sophie

OOTD #18 My Mums Birthday

It was my Mum’s birthday on Sunday but because she had to work we ended up celebrating it on Thursday. I needed a casual but still nice outfit for during the day, because I was the designated driver for our plans I also wanted to be comfortable. Anyways, I paired this combination together and I LOVED it, if I do say so myself…

Off Shoulder Cropped Jumper- Topshop

Ahh its a rarity I find the exact item online. I LOVE this Jumper though, its so comfortable and I don’t own anything else in this colour.

img_5302

Trousers- H&M

Similar Trousers Here

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the exact trousers I’m wearing. However, I found similar ones that are a close match. I think these are really versatile, and a good fit; slightly high waisted.

img_5304

Shoes- Topshop

These were a recent purchase and I don’t even need to tell you how good they are. I had these in pink and wore them CONSTANTLY. Therefore, I had to buy them again, but this time in white. The real question is how long will they stay that white? I’m thinking maximum, a week.

Missed my last OOTD? You can read it here.

OOTD #17 Interview (no.3)

Recently, I haven’t quite been in the right head space. It seemed to be bad news after bad news, stress after stress and I found myself dragging myself through each day. Currently, I’ve decided to be grateful for the little things; the weekend being sunny for once; getting to take Alfie for long walks and the ‘Your Time Capsule’ Playlist on Spotify.

Anyways, into the post, this is my (maybe) last university interview. This is my ootd I wore for Manchester Metropolitan interview. I didn’t get accepted. (While I was gutted) Everything happens for a reason.

5Top: New Look

Trousers: H&M

Boots: River Island

*Things I can’t find I still include the brand I bought them from.

How are you?

Lots of Love,

OOTD #16 Interview (no.2)

I have to say my second interview was definitely much more nerve wracking than the first. I really wanted some cool pictures, but with stress of getting there on time and having to use my Dad’s not great camera quality, everything just ended in a bit of a mess.

Heres what I wore and how I got on…

1Shirt: Topshop/Similar

Coat: New Look

Trousers: New Look/Similar

Bag: Topshop/Similar

Boots: New Look

I came out of the interview and cried. I just felt that whatever I was saying just wasn’t enough. But a day later, I actually got an offer from Northumbria University to study Fashion. So that was VERY exciting. I’m super excited for what’s to come/slightly stressed.

 Lots of Love,

Sophie

OOTD #15: Interview (no.1)

I don’t even know my Blogging schedule anymore. But I’ve had a busy couples weeks (and its not about to slow down for a couple more) so I’m telling myself that as long as I post at some point during the week, then I’m ok.

Anyways, part of the reason I’ve been so busy is because I’ve been preparing for upcoming interviews for Universities and Colleges. Yesterday, I had an informal interview for a College to do a foundation course (its my back up plan if I don’t get into University). I knew it was going to be really laid back and only half an hour, so because I was going straight from College I didn’t put too much effort into my outfit.

Having said all that, I thought I’d share what I wore and will do this with my other interviews…

o3

I’ve applied to do a creative subject so in each one of these interview ootd’s, I’ll be carrying that big art folder to put my portfolio work in. As you can see, we’ve had snow, but the snow is more icy so I was definitely going to wear flat shoes. I loved the blouse I was wearing, I think the detailing is beautiful and I really wish I’d managed to get a picture of the sleeves but it was far too cold to take my coat off. Speaking of my coat, this is my most recent purchase and I LOVE it. I don’t know how I didn’t already own a rain coat and I think the navy line detailing is so cute.

Folder– I bought mine years ago so here’s a similar one.

Earrings- Guess

Blouse- H&M (I couldn’t find it on their website)

Coat- TOPSHOP

Jeans- New Look

Shoes- TOPSHOP

Bag- TOPSHOP (similar)

OOTD #14: New Look Winter

Ooopsies for two ootd’s in a row on this blog.

IMG_4297I don’ know what happened but I unintentionally got caught up with the black Friday deals and ended up spending A LOT. But it was all worth it, I managed to get two winter coats, trousers and a top for just under £100. I have to say (this isn’t sponsored) New Look have got the BEST clothes at the minute and obviously the sales helped.

IMG_4303I thought I’d include this Snapchat I wish I’d saved without the caption just so you can see the sleeves on this top because its SOOO pretty.

Shell Pink Sleeved Top

Check Trousers– I don’t think these are the exact pair I bought because the ones I linked are a bit high on the leg. However, they are really similar and they’re my first pair of trousers, YAY I think I’m converted.

Aviator Jacket– again this isn’t the exact one I purchased which is weird since I bought this all yesterday? Unless they’ve already taken items down from the website. I love this and it keeps me so warm.

Shoes-  You can check out my ‘Time to Dust off your Boots’ post to find similar shoes that I’m wearing here.

IMG_4302I was so happy because I’d just eaten.

Love, Sophie

About Me

OOTD #13

I’m not sure why I couldn’t think of how to describe this outfit to put it into the title. But I do know that I really like doing my ootd posts, so here you go…

IMG_4261It’s been a while since I’ve made an effort with my outfits for college. However, I was going shopping afterwards so I thought I may as well.

I don’t think I’ll be able to find the originals of what I’m wearing. Although, I will link similar items from various stores.

About Me

Time to Dust off Your Boots

It was just the other day, that I was randomly telling my Mum how excited I am to start wearing my boots now the months are turning colder. When it came to what I should blog about this week, my Mum suggested something to do with my boots.

So, that’s what I’m gonna do…

IMG_4038

Okay, so these boots are probably not suitable for rain or snow but you know them autumnal days that can still be really sunny and nice, I can wear them then. I purchased them from New Look a couple of years, so they have lasted some wear and tear. Because they no longer sell these exact boots, I will ty to link similar ones.

Mink Suedette Wooden Block Heel Boots

I found these on New Look and thought they were pretty similar apart from the studs.

IMG_4041These were my favourite boots last Winter, I bought them from Miss Selfridge and I’m just obsessed with the heel. Its probably a weird thing to like right? But I just love the pattern on them. I also really liked the height of the heel. I’m not one to be very good at walking around in really high heels, however, these were perfect for day-to-day wear.

IMG_4042

I always try to find similar products from the website I purchased them from just to give extra credit to the brand. This time I couldn’t do so, but I did come across these beautiful Delilah Nude Velvet Ankle Boots that I just had to include. Even if they are completely irrelevant…

IMG_4043

So these are actually my Mum’s boots, although I knew I couldn’t do a boots post without including some lace ups. The black ones are from Topshop and the nude pair are from Dorothy Perkins. I think these types of boots can bring so much edge to an outfit and if you’re really against a heeled boot, these are perfect.

Again I couldn’t find similar black lace ups on the Topshop website. But I did find a similar pair on ASOS ‘Pull&Bear Buckle Detail Worker Boot‘.

I managed to find a similar pair of boots on Dorothy Perkins to the ones my Mum owns: Pink ‘Magnolia’ Ankle Boots.

IMG_4046

I bought these late February, so I only managed to wear them a couple of times before I transitioned into Summer shoes. And I think these are the boots I’m most excited for. I purchased these from River Island and I know there’s so many outfits I can pair these with.

IMG_4047

When it comes to the shape I found these Public Desire Universe Pink Crackled Heeled Ankle Boots on ASOS, that I thought were quite similar.

Do you have a favourite pair of boots you’re ready to ‘dust off’?

Love, Sophie

About Me

How I Organise my Wardrobe

A quick read of a post from me this week, (college has been MAJORLY hectic).

I’d consider myself to be a fairly organised/tidy person but when it comes to my wardrobe, it ALWAYS ends up in a mess. So every so often, I have to go through it to put things back on hangers, find appropriate places for my shoes and usually put one or two things away for charity.

Today, was one of those days that I had to tackle the wardrobe and thought I may as well make a post out of it.

IMG_3925I’m ashamed to say this is what it was looking like before I managed to get a hold of it all. In all honesty, don’t be thinking this ends up looking like a whole new wardrobe, I’m not that good of a tidy uperer. (not a word? ok.)

IMG_3924

First thing to do is obviously put your clothes in colour order? It was my first step anyways. I made sure to put all tops together, then jackets and then dressy outfits. Then when they were each in their category, I put them in a bit of a colour order. I know it won’t last, I’m definitely not a Monica from Friends.

IMG_3923Next, it was to tackle the over head bit, I’m sure it has a proper name. Oh wait, its probably just a shelf, nevermind. Anyways, I like to be able to see my shoes and take great pride in my heels I probably only wear once a year. So, I realigned them and got rid of anything on that shelf that wasn’t a shoe.

IMG_3922Finally, I had to have a place to put a couple of my favourite bags. Which had to be in the last available space which was on top of my wardrobe. I have to admit, I’m not the fondest of having things on there, but I really don’t have anywhere else to put them.

Where do you store your bags?

About Me

How I Style #3: A Corset Tunic Dress

It may have been over a year since I put together one of these ‘How I Style’ posts but that’s okay, were just gonna move past that. I’ve also made the small change from How to Style to How I Style, mainly because I think Fashion is totally personal and up for discussion. So this (clearly very short) series of posts are put up for inspiration, than anything else.

Anyways, before I get into it can I just ask why is it whenever I buy something full price it always go on sale when I come to write about it in a blog post? Its just my luck. So basically the Corset Tunic dress that’s featured in this post, is from Topshop. Currently on sale for £15 down from £28. You can get your hands on it here. If you would like to check out other clothes that were on sale at the time of me writing the post you can do here. Andddd miniscule rant over now.

IMG_3743

The first thing I’ve been loving to pair with the tunic dress is my all time favourite coat from River Island. I realise its a trench coat and maybe something that seems more appropriate for the cooler spring weather, which it is. But I feel like I can still wear it now, especially with the U.K’s weather. Plus the light pink shade definitely radiates summer vibes.

I was tempted to wear my COFFEE lace up trainers, only because the colour would have coordinated well with the coat. BUT, I soon realised, it just wouldn’t have looked right, and I didn’t want to clash the sophistication of the coat with the casual trainers. HOWEVER, I think if I’d paired this outfit with my Blush ‘Sonia’ Velvet Sandals, that have a small heel to them, then it would have upgraded the outfit from day wear to evening.

IMG_3742For some reason, putting together this outfit really made me feel good. I think because the more I realised what I was wearing, the more I realised how coordinated I was. For example (are you ready for this?) I was wearing this Thin Velvet Ring Choker Necklace (what a mouthful) and the ring matched the other rings that were the detailing on the dress. Both rings being silver, I opted for silver jewellery; an anklet, a bracelet and earrings. PLUS all that silver even matched the silver zip on the leather jacket, ok, that might be too far. And obviously I was wearing the choker, jacket, shoes, all black to match.

I also think this dress would look super cute with a denim jacket. I always read other peoples blog posts and I think someone had got theirs from River Island. But if anyone else has any suggestions. I’d LOVE to know. I even saw a camouflage jacket in H&M, I’m so annoyed I didn’t buy it and I think that’d look pretty cool too. This is probably when I’d wear my trainers if I had a more laid back jacket to wear.
